A Grinch Christmas Movie Night with Treats

One of our family’s favorite Christmas movies is Dr. Suess’s ‘How the Grinch Stole Christmas’! Every Christmas season we gather together and watch how the Grinch’s heart is softened by Christmas spirit. It fills our hearts with happiness and we renew our desires to spread Christmas cheer! We also love to fill our tummies with yummy treats while we watch the movie! Our two favorite “Grinch” treats is ‘Grinch Popcorn’ and ‘Grinch Floats’! So easy to make and so fun to eat!!

 

Grinch Popcorn

Ingredients

  • Popcorn (Air pop or over the stove)
  • Salt
  • 1/4 cup butter (sweet cream salted)
  • 3 cups mini marshmallows
  • Popcorn
  • Green Food Coloring
  • Red M&Ms

Directions:

  1. Pop popcorn (appr.10 cups) and set aside. Be sure to remove any unpopped kernels!
  2. Melt 1/4 cup of butter in a medium saucepan. Once the butter is melted add 3 cups of mini marshmallows. Stir until the marshmallows are melted. Turn off the heat.
  3. Add a couple of drops of green food coloring and mix until the marshmallow mixture is a bright green.
  4. Slowly pour the marshmallow mixture over the popcorn. Using a spoon, gently fold the marshmallow mixture in with the popcorn until the popcorn is mostly covered. If you want the popcorn nice and gooey, use more of the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Pour popcorn onto a cookie sheet covered with foil. Drizzle a little bit of the remaining marshmallow mixture over the popcorn but do not mix it up. You will need the mixture at the top so the candy will have something to stick to.
  6. Don’t wait too long to add the M&Ms. You want the marshmallow mixture to still be warm and sticky.
  7. Sprinkle the candy and mini marshmallows onto the popcorn, concentrating on the areas with the drizzled marshmallow mixture. Allow the popcorn to cool. Break apart into pieces and serve.

Grinch Floats

Ingredients

  • Lemon Lime Soda
  • Lime Sherbet

Directions:

  1. Scoop sherbet in a glass cup. Add as much as you’d like!
  2. Pour the soda slowly over the sherbet.
  3. Enjoy!
